Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. -1st Timothy 4:12
West Huntsville has a long history of having a great youth program, and this tradition continues on today. We provide a program that will allow our young people to develop friends, skills, talents, and faith that will last them for a lifetime of service to the Lord. Many that have grown up in the West Huntsville youth program have gone on to become preachers, elders, and deacons in congregations in north Alabama as well as many other places.
We believe it's extremely important for these young people to develop their own faith while still young so that they can carry it with them throughout their lives. It provides a stable foundation upon which they can build their lives. As Solomon wrote in Proverbs 22:6, "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it."
We try to complement the activities of the families of the congregation and make it easier on them to succeed in the command by Paul in Ephesians 6:4, "And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord."
The Youth Program at West Huntsville is based on serving and leading. We believe that our youth should be involved in serving the Lord as well as other people. They should also be leading whenever possible, to prepare them for the day when they become leaders in the Lord's Church.
Our youth are heavily involved in the Lads-to-Leaders/Leaderettes program. Many of our young people participate in the various "Lads" events. Each person can be involved in as many or as few activities as he or she would like.
